If You’re Someone That Loves Cats You Should Read This

Everyone knows that cats make great pets. However, not everyone understands what it takes to properly care for your cat. While they are famous for being independent, there is still a lot of work to be done on the owners part. The article below will illustrate what every cat owner needs to know.

Be sure to have your pet cat spayed or neutered by the time it is six months old. A spayed or neutered cat is a more satisfactory pet because it is calmer, quieter and more likely to stay home. Neutered male cats do not spray urine to mark their territory. This is definitely a plus when it comes to cat ownership..

Avoid eye contact to make friends with a cat. Ever wonder why cats seem drawn to the person who likes cats the least? The answer lies in cat body language. To cats, staring is “rude” and can be considered a challenge. Looking away shows that you respect their space and are not going to be a threat. So next time you are looking to meet a new feline friend, look away and let them approach you.

Regular vet visits are very important for your cat’s health. They should go in for a routine check-up at least once a year, possibly more if they need important shots. Make vet appointments immediately if your cat has a medical condition or has become injured.

Check your cat for ticks and fleas every week. If your cat does have fleas, there is a good chance that you also have fleas in your home. You might need some flea bombs or premise-control sprays, along with treating the cat, to get rid of the issue. If you don’t know what products to use for controlling ticks and fleas, talk to your vet for some safe options.

If your cat kicks litter all over the floor, simply use a bigger container. A large, roomy tote with high sides makes a good litter box. A big round tub also makes a good litter box. A restaurant size bus tub is a capacious litter box. Providing higher sides and more space will solve your cat’s litter kicking problem.

Make sure that you have a good tablecloth for your kitten. Some cats prefer removing their food from the bowl and eating it on the side. This makes quite a mess. The best thing for you to do is to have a place mat underneath the cat’s bowl.

Being the owner of a cat isn’t always the easiest thing to be, but it is very rewarding. You need to get to know your cat better so you can focus on the kind of attention it needs the most. Before long, you’ll be seeing positive changes in your cats.
